Fraser Hill Trip - A place of no surprises...

Got no time to write a post on the Fraser Hill trip... bo bian.. can't possibly take one day leave just to stay at home and write right?? Anyway now that dar is still out at Changi Village with his colleagues for dinner & drinks.. at least I have some time on my hands to do a quick post..

Set off for Fraser Hill at 6am in the morning on 9th August 2007.. woke up super early around 5am plus... washed up and off we went to meet Zhaowei and Lily at Blk 211 for breakfast... actually we didnt plan for breakfast.. I cant eat that early in the morning... dar just wanna to tabao coffee - the essential item needed to keep him awake throughout the entire journey of more than 6 hours... anyway we ended up having very yucky & oily fried noodles.. i didnt eat much neither did I drank much.. becoz I havent fully recovered from my illness yet so I scared too much water will mean I will need to keep on going to the toilet...

Anyway after breakfast, we set off to the old causeway.. expecting it to be very little cars.. since it is only 6 - 7am in the morning.. a bit of jam but we thought ok... not too bad... crossed the Singapore customs... went straight into a massive jam of Singapore cars.. the entire causeway was fully jammed up la.. early in the morning... haiz... what to do.. it is National Day.. we wun be the only Singaporeans to take a long weekend away... so we slowly worked our way throughout the jam.. only managed to cross Malaysia customs abt 7 coming to 8am...

Pumped petrol... toilet break... then all the way to Pagoh.. another toilet break... then all the way to *i forgot where*.. hahaha.. we stopped for a couple of more toilet breaks along the way and once more for petrol before going up to Fraser Hill..

We went past a huge lake / dam (cant figure out what was it) in the midst of greenery and hills.. we thought "wah we didnt make the wrong decision to come to Fraser Hill".. so beautiful... parked our cars by the side and took some photos...

Then we started the climb... winding roads, tight bends... dar have so much fun "drifting" throughout... hahaha... anyway the roads was a one way up and one way down so it is like a S course in the driving circuit.. hahaha... very tight... and you really need super good driving skills..

Then we reached Fraser Hill.. went to check into our apartment first... We were staying in Fraser Hill Silverpark Apartment.. the service is lousy man.. the receptionist kept speaking Malay to urs at the beginning.. and she is slow... asked us to wait.. dunno for wat also... anyway we checked in finally...

All of us are super hungry by then so we went out for food... first stop we went to the restaurant located at the apartment.. the waitress at the restaurant mumbled something in malay.. when she realised we couldnt understand malay at all... she mumbled something abt the restaurant being closed for function.. we asked abt the price.. she then mumbled something abt checking for us.. and never come back... *vomit blood*

So we went back to our cars and drove out to the city centre.... to realise that the city centre is basically just a row of shops (2 cafes and one gift shop) and a roundabout... OH MY GOD!!!

Anyway we were so hungry by then, we went straight for the chinese restaurant named Restoran Hill View... we ordered fried beehoon, char kway tiao and fried rice.. the food is super expensive... but what to do.. nowhere else to eat.. so have to let ppl carrot lo.. hahaha

After lunch... we decided to do some exploration.. found a mama shop... brought beer and mineral water.. walked around the roundabout... nothing else... drove out of the town centre... went in search for the waterfall....which accordingly to the guy at the chinese restaurant is one of the only attaction at Fraser Hill

Actually the waterfall also not too difficult to find.. hahaha.. since the entire place is soooo small.. so we arrived at the waterfall.. which you need to walk quite a distance in from the main parking area...

Haha.. since it is the only attraction... must take more photos right?? Haha.. actually I think the government or tourism organisation also know that that is the only attraction in Fraser Hill ba.. becoz when we were there.. there were construction works going on.. they were building resting stops, pavilions, a better pavement... and so we cant actually walk down further to grasp the full view of the waterfall as there were construction works going on there too.. the construction workers were nice becoz they kept asking us to go down.. but we didnt dare too.. so we walked back...

We then drove to another attraction on the map called Allan's Water which is supposed to be a reacreational lake... but when we reached there.. to our dismay we realised it is like this....

Haha.. how pathetic.. I would classify it as a pond.. rather than a lake... but anyway we came out with a slogan by then...Our slogan for Fraser Hill is "Dont be surprised"... hahahaha... becoz you cant expect much out of that place.. so you cant be surprised at what they have to "offer"...

Anyway we finished exploring the place in lessthan 4 hours.. so we decided to return back to our apartment... and we ended up taking photos around our apartment.. by then we noticed a lot of Singaporean cars have started to arrive.. and we were like "haha.. all kana cheated.. hahaha.. we already finished exploring the place and we so hope that we dun need to stay for one more night..." luckily we didnt book 2 nights at Fraser Hill.. i would have fainted.. hahaha..

After taking photos, we went back to our apartment.. switched on the TV.. nothing to watch.. it was cold.. just like natural air conditioning (the only good thing there)... so we ended up sleeping.... very comfortably.. hahaha.. then we went out in search for dinner..

Didnt wanna to eat again at the town centre.. where all the Singaporean cars were.. I guess they too realised how pathetic the situation is by now.. hahaha.. so we went to the restaurant belonging to a hotel called Shahzan Inn.. the interior and exterior of the hotel look super stylo man.. the price for the hotel is almost the same as ours.. slightly more expensive.. should have stayed there rather than Silverpark man.. but anyway we went for the steamboat dinner package... with tom yam soup and chicken stock.. at least dinner wasnt that bad after all.. and the service was in fact quite good.... went back to the room after dinner.. the guys drank beer.. we chit chatted then it's bed time..

Woke up in the morning... I wanna to catch the sunrise becoz i thought sunrise in a mountainous region will be very beautiful.. but I missed it.. so I only get to see this...

But ok la.. still beautiful... we then went for breakfast.. lousy breakfast too.. everything with that apartment simply sucks to me man.. breakfast is just fried rice, fried mee goreng, hotdogs, baked beans, eggs, cornflakes and bread.. alamak... all of us didnt have a filling breakfast man..anyway we cant wait to check out.. so after breakfast, we went back to our room, packed our bags and checked out of that apartment.. before we left Fraser Hill.. a group photo...

Set off down Fraser Hill.. came across this waterfall on our way down.. stopped over to take some pictures...

I am going to stop here now... nothing interesting follows after anyway... since we drove all the way back to SG.. at night... will edit this blog when I have the time.. to perhaps add some captions to the pictures.. but till then.. good night pals.. it is very late now.. and it's bedtime for me...
